Lifetime ISA Maximum House Price | What a £450K House Looks Like Across the UK in 2023

Desperately want to get on the property ladder in the not-too-distant future? We hear you. In 2023, the average UK house price is £288,000 – a staggering £16,000 higher than 12 months ago, according to the Office for National Statistics.

If that figure seems higher than you anticipated, though, don’t feel too deflated. With a Lifetime ISA (LISA), you’ll get a 25% Government top up on your savings.

You can put aside up to £4,000 annually, meaning you can receive up to £1,000 a year from the Gov –as long as you are aged between 18 and 39, live in the UK and have never owned your own property.

There is a limit to what you can spend on a house with a LISA (£450,000); you can buy a property that is worth less than that, though, meaning you’ll also pay a smaller deposit.

How far will your money stretch?

What can you get for that sum of money in 2023, then, given the recent surge in house prices?

Whether you’re on the lookout for a home that costs much less than £450k, or you live in an area of the country where your first property is likely to cost every penny of that sum – or more – it’s worth taking a look at how far your money will stretch.

We’ve picked a few places at random from some of the UK’s major cities – it’s important to bear in mind, though, that the cost of housing will vary from town to town in the city of your choice. Read on…
