Unity Mutual is a trading name of The Independent Order of Oddfellows Manchester Unity Friendly Society Limited (The Oddfellows).

On an annual basis The Oddfellows publishes its Reports & Financial Statements document for its members and the general public, which contains the following important information:

Solvency & Financial Condition Report (SFCR)

Under current Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) rules and Solvency II regulations, we are required to disclose publicly, on an annual basis, a Solvency and Financial Condition Report (SFCR).

The SFCR contains narrative information in quantitative and qualitative form supplemented, where appropriate, with quantitative templates.
 
The Oddfellows SFCR, based on the financial position as at 31 December 2023, is available below and contains the following: 

  • a description of our business and performance;
  • a description of our systems of governance and an assessment of our capital adequacy based on our risk profile;
  • a description of the risks we are exposed to and the mitigation we have in place;
  • a description of our assets, technical provisions and other liabilities; and
  • a description of how we manage our capital, including information of our solvency capital requirements and minimum capital requirements.

Annual Report to With-Profit policyholders on Compliance with Principles & Practices of Financial Management (PPFM)

In order to comply with the rules set out by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) our Board of Directors is required to report to with-profits policyholders each year on our compliance with the Principles and Practices of Financial Management (PPFM).

The report must:

  • state whether, throughout the financial year to which the report relates, the firm believes it has complied with its obligations relating to its PPFM and setting out its reasons for that belief;
  • address all significant relevant issues, including the way in which the firm has:
    a) exercised, or failed to exercise, any discretion that it has in the conduct of its with-profits business; and
    b) addressed any competing or conflicting rights, interests or expectations of its policyholders (or groups of policyholders), including the competing interests of different classes and generations.

This compliance report covers the period from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022.
