Our Board
Simon brings over 35 years of leadership experience in the financial and insurance services sector. His previous roles include Chief Executive Officer of the EDAM Group, Head of Claims for AIG UK, and Vice President of AIG’s Motor and Liabilities Claims division.
Throughout his career, he has developed a strong track record in strategic growth, operational excellence and fostering people-focused organisations.
He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Salford Professional Development, part of the University of Salford, and as a Trustee of The Dean Trust.

Board nomination, independence, training and evaluation
Our Society follows a robust and transparent process for the nomination, induction, and ongoing development of Directors to ensure strong governance and effective leadership. Executive and External Non-Executive Directors are nominated by the Board, while Member Non-Executive Directors (MNEDs) are nominated by our Branches and interviewed by the Governance Committee. Director appointments are confirmed by members at the Annual General Meeting.
We uphold strict criteria to maintain Director independence, including term limits and restrictions related to our pension scheme. All potential conflicts of interest are monitored and reviewed regularly by the Secretary of the Order and Company Secretary.
Every new Director undergoes a comprehensive induction programme and participates in a continuous professional development plan, including mandatory e-learning in key areas such as regulatory compliance, risk, and ethics.
